TikTok works closely with the online GIF library, Giphy, where users can create their own GIF and then place it on their videos. “We are very pleased to continue to improve our creative tools with this integration and also share some iconic memes with Giphy,” said TikTok representatives, as reported by TechCrunch. Users can find the GIF sticker in the ‘Giphy’ menu and then type ‘TikTok’ in the search field. To find more GIFs, you can type ‘#getGiphy’. Then, select the desired GIF sticker to decorate the video to make it more attractive. With this feature, TikTok also increasingly makes video creators more famous. Because most of the GIF stickers listed on Giphy come from the iconic TikTok meme. “TikTok works closely with creators and Giphy Studio to popularize the TikTok memes as GIFs,” explained TikTok representatives. Users can also make their own GIF stickers. However, the GIFs they make will not appear in the index unless their Giphy account has been verified. For TikTok, this is the first time working with a third-party application specifically for GIF stickers. But for Giphy, TikTok is not the first. Snapchat and Instagram first partnered with them to provide GIF stickers on Stories. Last month, TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, announced that until July 2019, TikTok’s monthly active users reached 1.5 billion. The application, known as ‘Douyin’ in China, is increasingly popular in North America and Asia.
