Samsung Exynos 9820 will also serve as Samsung’s latest flagship chipset. There’s a likely chance of the chipset making it out with Samsung flagship smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S10 next year. The news about the chipset’s launch on November 14 was confirmed by Samsung on Twitter. It was tagged with an image with the caption “Intelligence from within”. This caption puts more foothold on the rumour about Neural Processing Unit (NPU) inclusion. Along with that, some features were rumoured to be components of the chipset. It’s expected to land with CPU comprising Mongoose M4 cores, ARM Cortex-A76 cores and ARM Cortex-A55 cores. For its graphics support, the Mali-G76 GPU is a huge possibility. Compared to its soon-to-be predecessor (Exynos 9810 SoC), the Exynos 9820 chipset could consume 50% less power and also perform 20% better. More so, the next-gen 5G network could be supported on this new Exynos chipset. If that’s anything to go by, Samsung Galaxy S10 might be a 5G-enabled smartphone. This year saw top OEMs like Huawei and Apple announce flagship chipsets with 7nm architecture. Huawei’s Kirin 980 was the first to be announced this year before Apple’s A12 Bionic chip entered the list. However, the A12 Bionic chip is referred to as the first true 7nm mode chipset because it was the first to be launched. It was featured in iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR.
