Huawei Honor Magic 2 Quick Review
I know a particular smartphone analyst that hates notch designs like hell! There are a couple of other folks too that dislike notched smartphones. If you’re in such category, the Huawei Honor Magic 2 is here to please you. There’s no notch whatsoever, neither tiny nor waterdrop. Since there’s no notch of any form, you might start wondering where the earpiece and selfie camera is going to appear. A couple of smartphones have their front-facing camera placed at the screen’s bottom, but Huawei avoided that. The Chinese giant left a beautiful looking chin at the base. This action resulted in a new position for the selfie cameras – a slide. Once the screen is pushed downwards, the slide mechanically pops up to reveal three shooters. The cameras are of qualities – 16MP (f/2.0 aperture), 2MP (f/2.4) and 2MP (f/2.4). Features of these cameras include facial recognition, HDR and portrait mode. Asides the cameras, the smartphone’s earpiece is also present on the slide. Just like the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, Honor Magic 2 carries a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen as its display. This display fashions out its crispness through 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution as well as 403PPI density and approximately 91.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. Moreover, the smartphone is the first in the Honor sub-brand to feature the Kirin 980 chip. Other Honor smartphones didn’t get the honour (pun intended) of bagging this flagship chipset. At the smartphone’s rear, there are the three cameras comprising 16MP + 16MP + 24MP. This brings the total of cameras on the smartphone to six! Smartphones like Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) and LG V40 ThinQ come close with five cameras altogether. Unlike other Huawei devices that use Emotion UI as the interface, this device’s interface is executed by Magic UI 2.0. As a result, the phone features an AI assistant called Yoyo.
